Great value March 9, 2010 Truth Seeker (LA CA USA) We just took this camera on an extended trip abroad and were totally delighted with it. It made our old camera that we took along for backup look mediocre. Image stabilization is very good, exposure in low lighting was impressive, and automatic settings worked well to give us impressive photos. The only surprise was that there's no selection for image quality to control the size of the files.
flimsy battery and memory card cover March 9, 2010 D. P. Dice (Georgia) light weight and very cute looking......great quality photos.....however, the battery and memory card cover is very flimsy and feels like it could break with very little force. My older canon's cover worked better and felt more heavy duty.
I'm not pleased - poor pic quality, construction not durable March 9, 2010 SDM (Lisbon) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this camera before Christmas 2009, and took lots of pictures during the colorful holidays. I was not thrilled with the results - photos seemed dull, flat, and uninteresting. Photos taken with my 6-year-old Sony were much better! Thought about returning the camera, but couldn't be bothered. Wish I had - camera recently fell off a low end table, and the small plastic clasp for the battery/memory card compartment broke off. Now, because compartment doesn't close properly, camera doesn't always work. I have a good excuse to get a different camera - think I'll go back to Sony.
WORKS FOR ME. March 8, 2010 MMPEE (Los Angeles, CA) I just needed a small digital camera to take quick snapshots that I could then email to friends and family. This camera works fine for my purposes. I am not planning on creating art with my snapshots. I have not had any issues with battery life so far. It is easy to plug into my Mac and transfer the pictures and then prep them for email with one click of a button. I tried using a friends older camera this past week. It was hard to hold steady and get a non-blurry picture. This Canon has image stabilization and I have not had even one blurry picture due to hands moving when I press the button. The pictures look clean and clear and in focus. I did a lot of research and this Canon was highly recommended in this price range. I would recommend this camera to a friend who was looking for a camera for the same purposes as I. My only complaint is that there seem to be a lot of
symbols and functions of the camera that are not fully explained in the paper user manual that came with the product. As I use the camera more and more I will have to check and see if there is any digital manual that came with the camera that explains what all these various symbols, etc. stand for and how to use them properly. But as for just pointing and shooting snap shots, it was easy to get started. This is my first digital camera.
Previously I took slides and negatives with a Canon FTb which I still have, but don't use much anymore. It's quicker and simpler to use the digital camera for snapshots to email to family than shoot, develop, print and snail mail pictures.
