excellent camera and good additional "goodies" September 3, 2010

the camera is a blast, but I knew this before ordering it, from testing it in Fry's.
But what positively made an impression was the accesories I got with it --> the bag is very nice, even though it is more deep than wide (a matter of taste, but I think it's ok) and is a keeper (I usually get rid of these cheap bags...). The memory card is a good one (Kingston, 4GB high speed), the card reader is nice, the tripod and cleaning kit are simple but ok. definitely worth to buy it as a kit - especially if it's the same price as without the accesories, as it was for me :P

I love this camera. I have taken many pictures with this camera(which is new to me). They have all turned out great. This is the third Canon camera I have bought. I started with the A1100IS and then bought the SX120IS and then purchased the SX20IS. The SX20IS is by far the best of the three that I have bought and has the most features. I like the one click video recording in stereo. The others are all done by a setting that you have to set and they are all mono not stereo. The vari-angle lcd 2.5" screen is fantastic. I have taken several pictures above my head and below me as well. Plus you can close the screen so that the lcd screen is covered. The perfect camera for me I highly recommend it for anyone that wants the features of a dslr but doesn't want to spend the extra $300.00.
The other items come in handy as well, I have used the card reader and the bag and the cleaning kit already.

We purchased this camera after owning several Kodak and other Canon cameras. We wanted a bigger camera with good flash, portrait capabilites and bigger zoom. We have not been disappointed at all. The zoom and clarity at full zoom are amazing! You should use the tripod at full zoom unless you have a steady hand. I took several shots on vacation of wildlife that I didn't want to get too close to and the results were postcard quality shots. I love the dial at the top that lets you change your settings very quickly (no digital menus to travers through). Get this camera! It was worth every penny.

I bought this product with this package 3 weeks back. Before going to reviewing the camera - a few words about the attachments. As a lot of reviewers have mentioned earlier - not all of the attachments are worth the additional buck according to me. The tripod is very small and isnt of much help to me. The camera bag is of moderate quality, I would prefer a better quality bag and is ready to pay the additional money for that. The memory card is good and useful, but I bought a separate 8gb Memory card - as I inted to use this camera for taking videos too. And if you are planning to take videos - you would need higher memory.
Now coming to the camera. This camera is worth the price. I have used it for a vacation I took to the Niagara falls and New York city. The results are splendid. Specially the HD videos of Niagara falls are amazing. I am still getting rave reviews for the video quality from my friends. And the photos are real good. The camera is a little heavy, but I do not mind that considering the super zoom capability it has. I have had a Powershot S1 IS earlier(which was the first camera of this range launched in 2005). The new camera is real good. The controls are easily accessible from the back panel. The LCD display size is big enough for me. The review of photos is good. I have taken some night pictures with this. While there is indeed a lot of noise in the pics at higher ISO levels, but the objects are looking OK(better than the camera I had earlier). I did not get a chance to play around with the settings a lot. But the results I got with Auto Settings is so good that I do not mind it right now - and will do it at my leisure.
This camera does not have a Users Guide. You have to download it from the Canon site. That is something I would have preferred getting in the box.
Overall I am highly satisfied with the camera. My suggestion would be - if you are bothered about the quality of the accessories - buy it separately rather than in this package.

I have always been pleased with my purchases through Amazon.com but this is the crowning glory! I am so happy with my camera! I shopped quite a lot before buying and found the price through your company is equal and better to all the other places I've shopped. I received not only the cameral but for only $4 more, I also received the additional package with accessories for which I would have had to pay extra anywhere else. I received the package within about three days without paying extra. Once again, thank you, Amazon.com for coming through.
